Saints select Michael Thomas in second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Thomas is a 6’3″ wide receiver out of Ohio State.  He is a well-built, physical receiver who knows how to use his size to position himself around defenders to make the catch.  His first rate hand-to-eye coordination makes his catches look easy when they fall into his very sure hands. Thomas is known for making the tough catch as well as his leaping and timing abilities. He can also be found blocking for his team. He has good speed but is not a “sudden” guy and will have to work to get separation in the pros.  Thomas’ footwork will be one of the first things his Saints coaches will tackle with him as he grows into the a promising receiver.  Thomas lined up almost equally on the right and left side of the field but the route tree he ran in college will need to blossom and grow as he transitions to the pros.

Many NFL scouts predict Michael Thomas has the requisite ability to absorb an NFL playbook and the fact that he will team up with Drew Brees will make his transition easier.
