Sean Payton met with the media today at the 2016 annual NFL meeting in Boca Raton, Florida. He was asked about his future with the team and mentioned he had a new contract in his briefcase for five more years. In fact, he was glancing about for his briefcase because he was afraid he forgot it in his hotel room. Payton met with Mr. Tom Benson over the contract last night. ESPN reported the deal was in “excess of $45 million.”
“Another five years means a lot,” Payton said. “That stability, I don’t take for granted.” Payton said it’s important that deals for himself and Drew Brees will get done.
Sean Payton said he has agreed to a five-year contract through 2020. He has not yet signed it yet, but expects to soon.
