Tendered, restricted free agent Josh Hill, tight end, is visiting the Jets and according to the New Orleans Advocate, has an interview with another team scheduled. One can hardly blame Hill who has been behind Jimmy Graham, Ben Watson, and now Coby Fleener on the depth chart. Hill has had flashes of great play on the field (in my opinion) but his playing time has been limited in the rotation behind other players. He is someone I consistently look for to have a breakout season. At the Jets, he would be behind Jace Amato on the depth chart.
Josh Hill is a restricted free agent who has been tendered by the Saints at the lowest level which means the Saints have a right to match any offer Hill may receive but will not receive any compensating draft picks should he sign with another team. The Saints have the right of first refusal and therefore control Hill’s destiny. It will be difficult to match any offer at $1.67M given tight cap room space but Sean Payton and Mickey Loomis love Hill’s upside.
Hill (6’5″) signed with the Saints in 2014 as an undrafted free agent out of Idaho State. He is an asset both as a receiver and a special teams player. He appeared in all 16 games with three starts on offense and recorded 14 receptions for 176 yards and five touchdowns.
