Robertson played college football at North Texas. Robertson was initially recruited to play safety at North Texas. However, he displayed a physicality coaches felt better suited to a linebacker. Starting as a redshirt freshman, Robertson became the starter at linebacker midway through his redshirt freshman season, a position he held throughout his college career. Robertson earned All-America honors as a freshman, and Sun Belt All-Conference honors as a sophomore and senior. As a senior, Robertson led the conference in solo tackles and total tackles.

Craig Robertson was invited to a tryout by the Cleveland Browns in 2011. Following a great workout performance, Robertson was signed to the Browns’ practice squad as an undrafted free agent. Following the 2011 season, Robertson made plays throughout the preseason and earned a position on the Browns 53-man active roster. Among the team leaders in tackles and interceptions, Robertson has become a breakout player in the NFL.
