Watson’s (age 35) career saw a resurgence with the Saints. He was nominated for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award this past season and was well-known for his book “Under Our Skin” dealing with racial issues.
Watson signed with the Saints before the 2013 season. He previously had been with the Cleveland Browns (three years) and the New England Patriots (six years). Watson had a much smaller role playing behind star tight end Jimmy Graham until 2015. But with the advent of Graham’s departure to the Seahawks, Watson saw more playing time. Watson finishes with the Saints with the best season of his career. He had a career-high 74 receptions for 825 yards for the Saints in 2015.
Ben Watson was drafted by the New England Patriots 32nd overall in the 2004 NFL draft. He played college football at Georgia.
We wish Ben Watson the best of success and thank him very much for his time with the Saints. Great memories!
