Mike Neu, the former New Orleans Saints quarterbacks coach, is headed to Ball State as their new coach. So our own WhoDatTN was researching possible replacements and most logically went to see what was new with Joe Lombardi, the former offensive coordinator for the Lions and quarterbacks coach for the Saints. TN’s search took him to Lombardi’s wikipedia page where this little tidbit was found.  “He was re-hired by the New Orleans Saints to his original position.”

Update on original post on Jan 7: Today, it was confirmed Lombardi is back with the Saints.

Is Joe Lombardi Back As the New Orleans Saints Quarter Backs Coach

Is Joe Lombardi Back As the New Orleans Saints Quarter Backs Coach

If true, Joe Lombardi is an excellent choice for this position. Sean Payton, Drew Brees and the rest of the quarter backs have to be happy. Lombardi started with the Saints in 2007 as an offensive assistant and graduated to the quarterbacks coach in 2009 (the Super Bowl winning season).  It is expected he will be instrumental in the development of Garrett Grayson.
