Round 1, Pick 13

Alvin Dupree – OLB – Kentucky

With their 1st pick in the draft the Saints take the best pass rusher available. Opposing quarterbacks had too long to stand in the pocket last season and with Galette potentially missing games this season if he is suspended, Dupree could be dropped in at the deep end to help generate a pass rush.

Round 1, Pick 31

Bernardrick McKinney – ILB – Mississippi State

Hawthorne is not the answer at ILB as a replacement for Lofton. McKinney has a lot of athleticism and versatility, he would help as a blitzer and a thumper against the run but will have to develop his pass coverage.

Round 2, Pick 44

Marcus Peters – CB – Washington

This is a high risk high reward pick. Peters comes with some major character risks but he has 1st round potential and could be ready to contribute straight away. The Saints added a physical corner in Browner but there was a reason he was heavily penalised last season. Peters could develop into a pro bowl shutdown corner.

Round 3, Pick 75

Paul Dawson – ILB – TCU

Dawson is a raw talent but excels in pass coverage and has sideline to sideline range. Pass coverage by the linebackers has been a major flaw of the Saints in recent years and Dawson partnered with McKinney could give them a very nice combo at the position.

Round 3, Pick 78

Rashad Greene – WR – Florida State

Even with Benjamin to throw to Jameis Winston no.1 target for the most part on the championship run was Greene. Not a true burner but has very good acceleration to create separation and is elusive as a runner after the catch. I read that Greene is comparable to Antonio Brown and would be a great complement to Brandin Cooks, Marques Colston, Nick Toon and co.

Round 5, Pick 148

Corey Robinson – OT – South Carolina

Robinson offers depth at tackle and would eventually replace Strief at RT.

Round 5, Pick 154

Danielle Hunter – OLB – LSU

Another pass rusher for the Saints. Hunter has all the physical tools but wasn’t productive at College, a bit like Ronald Powell , last year’s 5th round pick.

Round 6, Pick 187

John Miller – G – Louisville

Miller could be another late round gem for the Saints. Lelito will start at LG Evans at RG. Miller adds depth and can refine his techniques and improve strength for a couple years before replacing Evans.

Round 7, Pick 230

Ray Drew – DE – Georgia

Drew replaces Tyrunn Walker who left via free agency. Would play as a 3-4 DE but could help rush the passer from inside when the Saints move to a 4-3. More than anything he adds depth to the Defensive Line.
