Black Monday came fast and furious.  Sad Tuesday rolled in like a mist when teams and coaches began to realign but you couldn’t quite see who is eyeing whom.   Welcome Wednesday comes along when the courting begins, the press is alerted and interviews line up.  And as prospects appear on the horizon, more conscious uncouplings take place.  NFL Tempting Thursday begins the vortex of activity and tempting choices between alternatives.  Pages will be turned and new allegiances formed but not before rumors, emotions and most of all money and power swirl in the winter wind.

Doug Marrone has opted out of his Bills contract and become a free agent.  Where will he land in 2015?  Will he return to the Jets and take Jim Schwartz with him?  Bill Polian will be taking over as Bills team president/football czar.  The move is expected to be announced in January.  Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News reports that Chargers offensive coordinator Frank Reich is the “top target.”

Rex Ryan will interview for the head coaching positions with the Falcons and the 49ers.  If he is hired at either team, which assistants will he retain?  Which assistants will leave if they were expecting head coaching positions?  Will Vic Fangio stay if Rex is hired in San Francisco?  Fangio interviewed for the head coaching position today.  Also, does Rex tempt Rob to coach with him in either place or just game plan against him in the NFCS?

Big Fangio is lining up interviews with the Redskins.  Where else would he consider going?

Rob believes Rex has it all.  “First of all, I think he’s got more football knowledge than anyone coaching in this league,” Rob said of Rex. “We’ve been around it our whole lives and it’s genuine. Then you see a guy who is so good with the media. He’s got such a great personality. He is himself. He enjoys himself. But he’s also smarter than all these gurus out there, too. So, he’s got everything … I don’t think there’s a better defensive coach in the league than Rex.”

Dirk Koetter the offensive coordinator for the Falcons has drawn interest from the Bucs.

The Redskins and Jim Haslett have parted ways.  Who fills this vacancy and where does Haslett go?

All is quiet on the Mike Smith front.  What team could use a defensive minded coach who has had success so matter how much the Who Dat Nation would like to denigrate his laurels, he does have some coaching chops?

All intriguing questions.

Will Aaron Kromer return to the Crescent City?  Are there any hurdles he must overcome to be trusted by Sean Payton again?  There are rumors our own defensive back coach Wesley McGriff is leaving for Vanderbilt’s defensive coordinator job.  Could this mean Dennis Allen comes back to the New Orleans Saints?    The Chicago Bears have requested to speak with the Saints’ Ryan Pace who is in charge of college and pro scouting.  There is always a plan of succession in place for the Saints are fully aware Pace is attractive to other teams.  (Miami asked to speak with him last year but was blocked by the Saints).  Rick Reiprish is Director of College Scouting, and Terry Fontenot is Director of Pro Scouting.  Expect the Saints to have a plan in place if Ryan Pace moves on.

We will keep you informed on this page’s twitter stream of each coaching update.  Rumors and interviews are fun to follow but we will save the articles for the realized changes.

What are your thoughts on these coaching changes?  Where will they land?  What will happen on Airline Drive?
