In addition to the return of former starting center Jonathan Goodwin on Tuesday, the New Orleans Saints signed defensive lineman Brandon Deaderick to a 1-year contract.

Taken in the final ten picks of the 2010 NFL Draft, Deaderick spent three seasons with the New England Patriots before spending last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars. In 53 games as a pro (including 5 playoff games and one Super Bowl appearance), the Alabama product has 65 tackles, 6.5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles to his credit.

Deaderick will be competing for a roster spot along an already well-stocked Saints defensive line.
