Decision: Vilma – Remainder of season; Fujita from 3 to 1; Hargrove from 8 to 7 for game lost due to suspension; Will Smith – Unchanged
From a non-Saints player who is looking at “evidence” released by league: “Laughable. We don’t talk suits’ language, they don’t talk ours.”
The only reason I can see the players filing appeals with NFL would be as a stall tactic. Can’t see them actually participating in process.
@AlbertBreer Risk that Judge Berrigan might send them back to RG if they don’t do it themselves.
I’d say the overwhelming likelihood, particularly w/Vilma, is that the players’ next step is re-filing for preliminary injunctions in court.
Following appeal to RG (unless they skip that step), expect players to seek injunction from J Berrigan who could be ready to rule quickly
Mike Freeman’s thoughts
The NFLPA released the following statement, moments after the NFL released Roger Goodell’s slight changes to the punishments of four players:
“For more than six months, the NFL has ignored the facts, abused the process outlined in our collective bargaining agreement and failed to produce evidence that the players intended to injure anyone, ever. The only evidence that exists is the League’s gross violation of fair due process, transparency and impartiality during this process. Truth and fairness have been the casualties of the league’s refusal to admit that it might have made a mistake.
“We will review this decision thoroughly and review all options to protect our players’ rights with vigilance.”
There’s a chance NFL decided to reduce Fujita’s suspension within the past hour. Good source insists as of an hour ago it was three games.
Vilma’s suspension remains the same, but will get 5 games served for his time on the PUP list, and 6 games of pay for time on PUP.
NFL announces Vilma and Smith suspensions are unchanged. Hargroves reduced from 8 to 7 games and Fujita from 3 to 1
Silver lining for Bounty-4.J. Berrigan didn’t want to rule until CBA panel ruled. Now that they’ve ruled,we could get quick decision from her
