Does Tyson Clabo Speak Who Dat?

Tyson Clabo just tweeted he is in Louisiana. Why is he posting his entrance in our fair state, we do not know.   But we do know the right tackle was cut by the Falcons this past week.  Supposedly Clabo was cut to make cap space for an extension on Matt Ryan’s contract. Clabo has been a successful right tackle.  It is not known if Clabo is meeting with the Saints; however, if he is and he is signed, it could possibly herald a shuffling of the OLine.

ProFootball Focus has a high ranking for Clabo.  He excels in pass protection but struggles in run support.

  1. This is Roto’s take. Definitely an upgrade to Strief IMO and could give the flexibility to play LT too. He was hooked with a 5y/25mil before getting cut. I am sure they could squeeze a cap friendly deal at least at the beginning. After all there are plenty of RT free agents out there

Clabo, 31, was cut by Atlanta on Thursday morning, and it’s not a surprise he’s already drawing interest. Dallas currently has overpaid bust Doug Free manning right tackle. The Jags have openly stated that if the season started today, they don’t know who would anchor the right side of the line. Clabo has nastiness to him and graded out as Pro Football Focus’ No. 5 right tackle in 2012. Apr 4 – 7:16 PM

  2. I saw something about Clabo being injured last year. I guess some Falcon fan questioned if he was let go because of it. Got me wonderin too.

    • Roto says he started 100 games in seven seasons with the Birds. That’s between 1 and 2 games missed a year. No idea what these injuries were, but i seem to remind Strief gets nicked often too. Seems still an upgrade

  4. Strief 2.5m cap hit and 250k dead money.

It seems we are in for a new RT..?

    • Can he play left? LOL

      • He did play LT while in college egg.

If he is really visiting and not on a pleasure trip taking snapshots at the Fleur-de-lis… methinks he could be interchangeable with C Brown so that Payton can stop having nightmares…

In which case i think Strief could well be on the way out… there is no penalty in cutting him and I suspect they could use that same cap money to lock Clabo for this year in a friendly deal.

    • Well, I know the left tackle has lighter duties than the right tackle in the run game. Maybe shift Eric Olsen to the left?

    • Well I’ve been figuring as close as we are to the cap and some of the other signings in process (draftees, RFA’s, possible Graham extension). We could/would let go of another player to leave us breathing room. Unless I’m not understanding the cap stuff correctly.
