Wild Rumors? – Not so Wild and not a Rumor – Porter did visit Saints Facility today

NuLa C.E.O. ‏@JuniorG93  Oh I Definitely Saw A CornerBack who was pretty crucial 4 Da Saints in ’09 @ The Facility Today #SignMan I Need YOU BRO!

ESPN.com is reporting that Porter, an unrestricted free agent who spent last season with the Denver Broncos after playing the first four years of his career with the Saints, is being courted by the Saints.     According to the ESPN report, Porter could be a backup plan should Nnamdi Asomugha not sign with the Saints.

Dennis Allen who coached Porter in New Orleans and is now the head coach of the Raiders has also expressed interest in Porter.

Porter signed a one-year deal with the Broncos but suffered seizures which severely limited his playing time.

Porter was a second-round pick of the Saints in 2008.  He has 8 interceptions in regular season and two memorable post season interceptions.

  1. Excellent point by both you and Manninghoo–I never considered the thin air! I hope you’re both right and it’s nothing more than that.

  2. My thought has always been that the Mile High air was a detriment to Porter. Hence the siezures. Just like Clark with the Steelers who could not play in Denver because of a health risk. If he has recovered from the concussion and the seizure thing is under control or gone,as well as can pass a physical. I don’t see why we shouldn’t have him back.

  3. Looks like the Dolphins are interested too per Rotoworld. I wouldn’t mind seeing him back in the Black and Gold, still a good nickel back.

    • It’s still on my timeline, along with Junior blasting someone who called Porter “garbage.”

  6. It. Never. Gets. Old. watched it twice… would be great to have Porter back with his team, maybe a possibility if the Asomugha deal falls through… he might be more amenable (i.e. affordable…) this year after his experience in Denver.

  7. His health doesn’t really scare me. There was never any mention of seizures or pre-seizure symptoms or any of that until he moved from just below sea level to a mile above it. He wouldn’t be the first player in the league to have health issues specifically caused by Denver’s altitude. Just ask the Steelers.
